Choral Music Society Choirs welcome new members
The three choirs of the Ashtabula County Choral Music Society will begin rehearsals for the 2010-2011 season on Monday, September 13 at the
Experienced singers over the age of 17 are invited to sing with the Chorale as they prepare a contemporary program of Christmas music, including John Rutter’s Gloria. The season will also include a performance of Handel’s Messiah, Parts II and III in March and a special concert performance of music from Bizet’s Carmen in May. The Chorale rehearses weekly on Mondays, 7:00-9:00 pm.
The educational arm of ACCMS provides opportunities for young singers to develop individual and ensemble skills, increase singing independence, and build music reading skills with others of like interest and dedication. Experienced singers in grades 7-12 from public, private, and home school settings are being invited to join the Youth Choir, which will rehearse weekly on Mondays, 5:00-6:30 pm. The Children’s Choir for enthusiastic singers in grades 5-6 is scheduled to rehearse weekly on Mondays, 4:00-5:00 pm. Both choirs will perform for a variety of ACCMS and community events.
All three choirs will be directed by ACCMS Artistic Director Kathleen Milford, a veteran of over forty years teaching singers and directing choirs in schools, church, and community.
